The Business On Call Experience
- Are you looking to free up members of your arts staff while volunteers manage hands-on tasks during events and performances?
- Is your arts organization looking to reinvigorate your volunteer pool?
- Are you a business professional looking for meaningful, fun involvement with the region's vibrant arts community?
Program Impact
Since it began in 1994, Business On Call has provided over 32,000 volunteer hours to more than 150 arts and cultural organizations. According to Independent Sector, that's a value of over $600,000 in volunteer service!
Snapshots of Sucess
Here is a sampling of what the arts groups and volunteers have experienced:
- Last year Tyler Arboretum was able to maintain 2 miles of trails that meander through 650 acres of uncultivated natural spaces through the help of Business On Call volunteer and AstraZeneca employee, Carol Dickerson. Carol also has helped out at the Butterfly House in the summer and the Maple Sugaring Celebration in winter, showing year-round dedication.
- Elfreth's Alley Association, the nation's oldest residential street and a National Historic Landmark, has very few staff. For their twice-a-year open house, this organization utilized over 240 Business On Call volunteer hours. That's the equivalent of a full-time staff person for 6 weeks.
- When Business On Call Captain and vice president of the Learning Center at Beneficial Bank, Candy Gusst, was looking for a team event to engage her fellow co-workers, she looked to the Arden Theatre Company'sproduction of The Underpants. Candy's leadership was critically important as she recruited more than 30 Beneficial Business On Call volunteers to exclusively cover the performance's run.
