The Council conducted this comprehensive study in 2002 to help cultural institutions attract and retain a competitive cultural workforce. The research analyzed and documented human resources practices of the region's nonprofit arts and cultural industry, particularly emphasizing compensation and benefits within these institutions. As a result, the research better defined the cultural industry's competitive edge and established a benchmark for this area's arts sector, comparing it against other nonprofits in the region and arts and cultural nonprofits nationally.
