Volunteer Application

We hope that you have an interest in becoming a volunteer with Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts program. Please keep in mind you do not have to be an “arts” lawyer to be a lawyer for the arts.

Please take a moment to review our Guidelines for Volunteers and then complete and submit the Volunteer Application Form. (*Connotes required information)

Once you have submitted your application, we will contact you for an interview with the PVLA program director.

Thank you in advance for your interest in assisting the arts and cultural community of the Greater Philadelphia Region.

Once you are accepted as a volunteer, you will have a choice of working with PVLA clients through our Legal Line service, through our Full Service Representation Referrals, or both.

Legal Line / ARTFAX Consultations

Legal Line service consists of a one time telephone consultation provided to anyone with an Arts related business or legal question, regardless of income. This is an excellent opportunity for volunteer attorneys who do not have time to take on Full Service Representation cases. Legal Line attorneys are asked to help five (5) Legal Line clients per year. In an Artfax consultation, attorneys review a brief written document and provide a brief consultation.

FULL SERVICE Representation REFERRALS:

Our Full Service Representation Referrals are available to qualifying individuals and cultural nonprofits with arts related legal issues. Clients are screened for eligibility through the application process. Full Service Representation Volunteers are asked to help two (2) Full Service clients per year.

If you opt to participate in both services, we ask that you help three (3) Legal Line clients and one (1) Full Service client per year.

Legal Service Options

As a courtesy to artists and nonprofits who are not eligible for Full Service Representation, we make available a referral list of lawyers.

We offer a variety of other opportunities for lawyers to serve the arts. Please indicate your interest in any of the following programs below:

  • Each year we host a wide range of special events for lawyers and artists. These provide a great opportunity to volunteer on a short term basis.
  • Our Speaker's Bureau sends dozens of attorneys to regional institutions, cultural centers and community organizations to speak on legal and business topics of special interest.

I am also interested in PVLA's
